2 Best Wine Tours in Barcelona

They say that the best way to get to know the culture of any place is to eat your way through it. But we do not quite agree. Here is a secret we are happy to share: the really authentic best way of all is to drink it! How else would you be able to taste the flavor of its roots, it ground, its fruits, its tradition? And we want to prove it.

Let’s start in Barcelona. The Catalan capital is full of wine bars that reflect the large variety and eclectic selection of the entire region. When being there, make sure to get lost around the narrow corners of the Gothic or the Born districts because you will easily find yourself with a full bodied glass in your hand and already ordering a quality vintage. But take it easy because we are just getting started.

The best way to get to know the culture of any place is to eat your way through it […] or the really authentic best way of all is to drink it!

As Ernest Hemingway once said, “wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection”. And feel wine experience is the perfect way to prove him right. But there are plenty more options around than just Barcelona wine tours. Did you know that Catalonia has more than nine appellations (DO) and one Qualified Denomination of Origin (DOQ)?

The abundance of wine production across the province is highly notorious, so today we want to focus and draw your attention to two regions in particular that both give birth to high quality reds and whites.

Barcelona wine tours, our two first proposals

Remote and dynamic Priorat

First grape paradise is placed just one hour and a half Southern Barcelona. The Priorat is one of the stand-out Spanish wine regions due, mostly, to its minerally rocky hill landscape. Considered by many to be the new Spain’s most elite reds, they certainly are among the most innovative ones despite dating back from the Middle Ages, when monks of the Carthusian Order started to cultivate the land after settled there. First vineyards were created and now those reds are (very) well known by its intensity.

If this is going to be your first time around, make sure to take a look around here to get some inspiration, but don’t just stop there. You won’t be able anyway after reading what comes next.

Priorat wines are scarce and some of the most expensive Spanish Wines

Penedés wine region: sun, sea and wine

El Penedès area is mostly known as Catalonia’s cava country, but if you go there you cannot miss the wide range of red wines it has to offer. And there are quite few reasons for it. First of all, do not forget to take a look at the amazing landscapes and location. Placed between two large Catalonian cities as Barcelona and Tarragona, it yet feels an entire world away. Sun kissed and under the surveillance of the Mediterranean sea, the region of the Penedès has become a perfect environment for the culture of the grapevine. Not surprisingly there are more than 300 wine cellars within the region. Seems a little bit overwhelming for a weekend break?

Visiting Penedes vineyards is a memorable experience

And that’s not all! The experience of drinking those wines is only comparable to the warm feeling of walking through the vineyards while enjoying the sightseeing. Now, here is a piece of advice: forget your watch and just allow yourself to get carried away.

Welcome to the new generation of luxury wine tours. Enjoy!
