No artist shaped the 20th century more than Pablo Ruiz y Picasso. Born in 1881 in Malaga, southern Spain, his immense talent was spotted at a young age and was first fostered under the artist tutelage of his father, also an artist, but more specifically, when his family moved to Barcelona in 1895. Sleeping at the Picasso’s first atelier, from these formative years in Picasso’s life, his first inspirations, and the influence of the city and bohemian circles in Barcelona at the time, we will move down to his home town Malaga to recreate his childhood as you get immersed in the exquisite culinary tradition of both destinations and you experiment the central role of food and wine in the artistic circles.

DAY 1 BARCELONA
Personal welcome by your private guide and art historian at The Serras Hotel, the first Picasso workshop. Our first morning will consist on a private circuit around some of the most renowned art galleries who exhibit or have exhibited Picasso masterpieces. Then you will stroll by Casa Llotja de Mar, the former site of the Academy of Fine Arts, where Picasso studied and his father taught, and the Columbus Monument, a rendition of which Picasso painted in the early 1900s. Exploring Avinyó street, an area that inspired his iconic work Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, you will stop for some refreshment at Els 4 Gats, the mythical café and cabaret that hosted Picasso’s first art exhibition in 1899. After a light lunch based on traditional Catalan cuisine in the afternoon you will be taken in a private tour of Modernism led by an architect to visit some of the most impressive works by Gaudí, Domènech i Montaner and Puig I Cadafalch. Cocktail time (before dinner) at Bar Marsella for an introduction to absinthe, the “green devil”. Gourmet dinner at one Michelin starred Saüc Restaurant by Xavier Franco, Catalan-rooted experimental signature cuisine.
DAY 2 BARCELONA
Today, private visit to Picasso Museum that holds over 3,800 original works in its permanent collection, chronicling Picasso's entire career. Then, a practical collage workshop will unveil all details about the technique of collage invented by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. Light lunch. In the afternoon, a roll up your sleeves for a private show cooking at the first Tàpies's atelier where we'll talk about the artists relationship. We'll prepare some of Picasso's preferred dishes and we'll cook some cubism inspired creations and we'll all enjoy a clandestine themed paired menu and try all the dishes.
DAY 3 BARCELONA
We'll drive to Northern Barcelona coastal town Caldes d'Estrach (Maresme region) to visit Fundació Palau (Palau Foundation), that exhibits the private collection of Josep Palau Fabre. The Picasso Room features around 50 works of Picasso some of them personally given by the artist to his friend. After the visit, a gourmet lunch will follow to immerse you in the Maresme local and rich cuisine at Sant Pau Restaurant by Carme Ruscalleda, 3 Michelin stars. After the epicurean experience and a promenade along the waterfront we'll be back to Barcelona.

DAY 4 BARCELONA - MÁLAGA
In the morning, private transfer from the hotel to Barcelona Airport. Upon arrival to Malaga Airport, private transfer to Hotel Molina Lario. Start with a Picassian and panoramic chauffeured tour to overview the seaport, the beaches and go up to Gibralfaro hill to admire the city. From the top you'll have an introduction to the coming days itinerary and first brush-strokes on Picasso influence in Malaga. Then we'll stroll the charming city center as we go for a light lunch.
Free afternoon to enjoy the city.
In the evening, a guided casual and gourmet tapas tour among the best culinary options. Malaga's cuisine is quickly becoming a popular destination for travelers from all over the world; in fact it hosts a Michelin starred restaurant combined with a more casual and top tapas eating style.
DAY 5 MÁLAGA
The morning will be devoted to Picasso's works. First, a private tour with your art historian at Picasso Foundation Birthplace Museum to focus on Picasso's childhood. Then, a visit to Picasso Museum, set in Palacio de Buenavista, a 16th century palace that blends Renaissance and Mudejar architectural elements. Free lunch, you have all the tips to enjoy the city on your own.
In the evening, fine dining by the port of malaga at José Carlos García Restaurant, 1 Michelin star. Open-glazed kitchen and a meticulous technical performance using the best local produce.
DAY 6- MÁLAGA
Today we'll head to Malaga outskirts for a hands-on cooking session at an ancient cortijo. Picasso loved Malaga countryside and we want to recreate that rural environment, surrounded by almond, orange, olive and fig trees, with an adorable Andalusian patio covered with bougainvillea and jasmine.
Back to downtown, free afternoon. We can assist you with entrance tickets at Museo Carmen Thyssen, Centro Pompidou Málaga, Colección del Museo Ruso or Contemporary Art Center. You can visit on your own or we can arrange for you a private-guided visit to the Cathedral, the Alcazaba (Arab fortification dating back the 11th century) or Gibralfaro Castle. For those interested we can also propose a Picasso a la carte Workshop to experiment with diverse artistic techniques.
Your last evening in Malaga is at your own pace.
