Lisbon and the Setúbal Peninsula
Have the best Lisbon & Setúbal Food Wine Tour
Lisbon is a city of slopes and its chipped facades, yes Lisbon is that of course, but it is also a city plenty of charm and character looking at Europe, Africa and America. It is a place that refuses to be just that. Lisbon knows how to look back at the past and how to look forward.
And gastronomy reflects this evolution better than any other form of expression; combined with avant-garde museums and chic boutiques, the culinary scene is living a very interesting revolution. You can go for a menu of the day and pay as little as 7 euros and get a deeply comforting caldo verde or bet for any of the top restaurants.
On the liquid scene, Lisbon is a great spot to discover two Portuguese wine regions: region of Lisboa and wines from Setubal Peninsula. Historically, there are three quality-focused DOC sub-regions: Bucelas, Carcavelos and Colares. And then, most of the production was big volume exported to the colonies. However, there are some noble boutique estates led by small scale high quality production and led by new generation of winemakers fighting for the terroir and Portuguese grapes varieties following sustainable methods.
But a visit to Lisbon does not end with the Bairro Alto, the viewpoints, the Torre de Belém, the Castillo de São Jorge or the old taverns of the Barrio de Alfama. Just a short drive from the Portuguese capital there is Sintra, the spectacular Guincho beach, Cascáis and the westernmostpoint of Continental Europe.
Embark on this hedonist journey, explore the real Lisbon, get to know historical families from the Portuguese wine business and thrilling natural landscapes that make it the perfect final spot to rest after a hectic week full of emotions.

Day 2
DISCOVER LISBON'S CHARMS
You will dream of returning to its inexhaustible light, to the kindness of its neighbors, to the continuous surprise of its streets, in which so quickly you enter the silence of the low-built houses and the clothes hanging as you find local small century-old boutiques next to modern shops and innovative architectural landmarks. Would you like to enjoy a visit behind the scenes at the National Teatro de Maria II in Rossio Square? Are you an arts lover? We can organize a thirilling museums private tour. We will adapt the rest of the tour to your interest and time. We could assault the hill of the Castle, where the city was born in 1500 B.C. Stopping in several viewpoints and walking around the narrow and labyrinthine streets of Alfama district. Keep walking down and will find yourself in the lively heart of Lisbon, showing the post-18th century earthquake architecture, the noble commercial area of the city, with old traditional stores and bistros.
Free afternoon-evening to enjoy the city on your own pace. We’ll assist you on your dinner arrangement.

Day 3
SINTRA, THE FAIRYTALE TOWN
North of the Tagus lies a rugged, rocky coastline, surrounded by hills and farmland, palaces far from the world, and hidden cliffs and coves where the ocean hits hard all year round. Chosen as a refuge by kings and nobles for centuries, there are countless reasons to consider Sintra as the 'Vila Velha': it is the city of palaces, enchanted forests, where oaks and cedars seem to hide their faces in the mist, and the narrow and steep cobbled streets, which maintain their medieval air between craft shops and pastry shops that flood the air with the aroma of the typical queijadas. In the 19th century, Sintra was also home to wealthy burghers, romantic artists and enlightened intellectuals in need of inspiration. You will visit the National Palace.
CABO DA ROCA
Then taka a de tour to Cabo da Roca - the westernmost point of Continental Europe – admiring the impressive cliffs and waves.
Time for lunch by Guincho Beach to try some of the seafood specialties, a cataplana should be on your bucket list.
COLARES WINES
After lunch, let’s discover some of the most coveted and rare wines in the world, wines from the designation Colares. Despite its limited annual production (15.000 L/year), each bottle of this characteristic wine can last for decades. Ramisco grape pre-phylloxera vines, sand and wind are the three natural elements that define these wines. This is a unique opportunity to visit one of the historical wineries, in business since 1808.
Back to Lisbon, free evening; we will assist you with your dinner plans.

Day 4
ÓBIDOS, THE LITERATURE & CHOCOLATE CITY
After breakfast your driver will take you North to enjoy the picturesque beauty of the historic village of Óbidos. Óbidos surprises with its perfectly preserved intramural castle, but also for its labyrinth of narrow streets adorned with Manueline porticoes, fragrant (and gigantic) bougainvillea and authentic Portuguese handicraft shops. Óbidos is also a Literary Village, registered in the Unesco Creative Cities network, as witnessed by its peculiar Livraria de Santiago, which occupies the old church of Sao Tiago, or The Literary Man, the largest literary hotel in the world. Óbidos hosts every year the Chocolate Festival and is also the birthplace of ginjinha, a liquor made with morello cherries, harvested in western Portugal and fermented in brandy with sugar, water and cinnamon.
WINES FROM LISBON
After the visit of Óbidos, time to reach one of the Lisbon wine estates. Lisbon wine region spreads over 12,000 kilometers of vineyards, being Torres Vedras and Alenquer the main wine cities with an ancient wine culture inherited from the Roman times. The region has native white grapes such as arinto, fernão pires or vital; and red varieties such as touriga nacional, touriga franca, trincadeira and castelao, among others.
Enjoy a private tour at one of the top estates, learn about the wines characteristics and then make your taste buds dance with a lovely homemade lunch.
Finally, transfer to your hotel in Setúbal, time to unwind in the secluded peninsula.

Day 5
SETÚBAL AND ITS MUSCAT
Explore the charms and wild landscapes of the Setúbal Peninsula. Start from the heights of the 12th century castle in Palmela, then go down to Setúbal to stroll around its lovely and lively food market, and follow the way across green and blue colors, the lush forest and the ocean magically interconnect.
This region is famous for its Moscatel de Setúbal dessert wine. Apart from these sweet wines they produce magnificent dry wines, that have gained national and international recognition. Are you ready for a nature-cultural-wine experience? We will get you to one of our preferred wineries, their wines are so unique and good. Enjoy lunch in at the winery.
AZEITÃO & SESIMBRA
After lunch, continue to explore other corners, Azeitão – famous for its creamy cheeses - and Sesimbra, to take in its medieval Moorish castle and relax with a cup of coffee as you admire the turquoise water before returning to your hotel.
TIP: choco frito (fried cuttle fish) and the oysters from the Sado estuary are a must in Setúbal.

All the private excursions that she arranged were excellent. At some point during every tour our guide received a message from our agent checking in on how everything was going. We felt very well taken care of during our honeymoon and very thankful for all the assistance Valeska provided in making this dream vacation come true.
