Cava are wines of exceptional quality, prestigious around the world, are produced in this region of Catalonia, located between the plains of the Mediterranean coast and the nearby mountains. Cava is the magic wine and Sant Sadurní d’Anoia is the world capital for this product, and the traditional coupage of unpronounceable macabeu, xarel·lo and parellada grapes is responsible for this superb but underrated wine.
A handful of meticulous, quality-conscious cava producers like Recaredo, Gramona, Mestres, Bohigas, Llopart, Castellroig, Juvé &Camps and Raventós i Blanc are determined to explore the limits. In the process, they hope to change fixed opinions that consign cava to the bargain bin. It may not take much more than a bottle of Brut Nature Gran Reserva – over 36 months of aging – to make that case. It’s feathery light, snappy yet elegant, lightly floral with a welcome touch of bitterness, a delicious sparkling wine with finesse.

Exclusive Barcelona Cave Tour Program
Your driver will meet you at 9.00 am at your hotel in Barcelona and will drive you to the Penedés wine region, one-hour drive southern from the city. First stop at some of the most prestigious cava vineyards; that will be our point of departure with a 4×4 tour across the vineyards to get a perfect understanding of the terroir. In fact, 85% of the wine making process takes place in the vineyard.
You will end up with a cava tasting, in a relaxed, cozy and friendly ambiance ideal for further discussion.
Then, head to second winery (only at a 25-minute drive) for a second multisensorial experience. Walk among some old vineyards and enjoy a hearty lunch in a century-old masia (traditional rural Catalan house). After lunch, calmly discover the the winery, the cellar, learn more about the family project and finish with a premium cava tasting before heading back to Barcelona.
